A LESSON FROM HOMER
A lesson from Homer that reaches to the present day. The lesson, to be conscious, to know ourselves, if we love learning.
A friend asked me the day before yesterday, what is the meaning of life. Instead of answering, I also asked him, who is asking. I, he tells me, ask. And who are you? I am him and he.
Before I read Homer, where the Cyclops asks Odysseus, what is his name, I knew, as a child, in Deskati, that when someone was talking about something, they asked him, who said it.
Odysseus wanted to teach a lesson to the Cyclops, that he can not learn anything, unless he first learns who he is, an arrogant one, who does not see beyond his nose. One who abolishes freedom and the right to life of others can learn nothing.
Odysseus blinded him, that is, made him realize his spiritual blindness and then told him who he is, Odysseus, the son of Laertes.
