Happy memories
By Moschos Lagouvardos
Happy memories are the most important things I remember from the books I read throughout my life. As a small child in elementary school, I never parted with the favorite books I encountered, wherever I went. A book was never missing from my hand. Even my old classmates in the high school of Larissa, when they met me again after years, were surprised: "You still have a book in your hand"?
The study of books, when I realized that the highest Art is religious, later became a prayer of Jesus, a mental prayer, "Tongue", as the Apostle Paul calls it. Then the study became a test to have God in my conscience and more specifically, to be my conscience, the clean eye, which writes the |Gospel.
When your eye is clean, says Jesus, your whole spiritual body is spiritual. The spiritual body is the spirit of God within us, the treasure of goods or otherwise the precious pearl, and the spiritual senses with which we can see the spirit of God.
Jesus' parable about finding the treasure in the field that the finder sold all his possessions to acquire it, in essence speaks of the appearance of God.
We must thank the Lord for giving us victory, and this is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world? except he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:4)
The pearl of great price is faith in Jesus and in the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead. The parable of the treasure shows that this treasure is the most precious thing a person can acquire.
Having this treasure, we can acquire what our soul loves most, and above all, the manifestation of the spirit of God, and be united in one spirit with the spirit of God. We could not acquire anything more precious. That is why we rejoice with God in a new world, after the death of the body.
John in Revelation, Chapter 20, speaks of the union of our spirit with the spirit of God in these words:
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and the sea is no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from heaven, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain. again. that the first things have passed away. (...)
and there shall in no wise enter into it, nor any that maketh abomination, nor any that maketh a lie, but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. "
The Bible gives us the links to be aware of the indwelling of Jesus within us. With the existence of Jesus within us He becomes the innermost center of our personal life. There are three ways in which we are aware of God, the unceasing prayer of the name of Jesus, which unites us with the peace of God.
"Each has a language. For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace. By our communion with the sufferings of Jesus, which gives us joy, and by having God as the innermost center of our personal lives. We try to be aware of God by praying, communicating, and touching.
That we have the spirit of God within us is a mystery hidden from the foundation of the world. The Prophets and even the ancient Greek philosophers and poets spoke about this mystery with the seminal word, before the incarnation of God.
Recently I read these words of Euripides in the title of a black and white American film: "Who knows if to die be but to live ... and that called life by mortals be but death"
(Who knows if death is not simply life and what mortals call life be but death)
