THE OLD WOMAN WHO SIFTS ALL DAY
The old woman who does not want to ferment sifts all day.
Who does the proverb say it about? Who is an old woman who does not want to ferment and sifts all day?
"For by your words I was justified, and by your words I was condemned. Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, Teacher, we want to see a sign from you. But they answered and said to them, A wicked and adulterous generation seeks a sign, and a sign is not given to me. Jonah the prophet." (Matthew 15:37-39)
Why is the sign of Jonah the prophet given especially to this wicked and adulterous generation? Is it because it is a type of the Resurrection of Christ?
This generation in particular is lost, and the only thing that will help them is faith in the Resurrection of Christ.
See the meaning of the feast of Jonah the prophet, on September 21, to be aware of the feast and the meaning that our Church gives to it.
